David M. Currie is Professor of Economics and Finance at the Crummer Graduate School of Business, Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida. He has been a member of the Crummer faculty since 1978 and is recognized as one of the outstanding teachers at the institution. He has won awards from national organizations for teaching innovations and from students for the quality of the educational experience.
Dr. Currie has been active in fulfilling Crummer’s mission to become a global graduate school of business:
- During the 1990s he was professeur visitant at Groupe HEC, France’s premier grande école in business, located just outside of Paris.
- In 2004 and 2005, he was a Fulbright Fellow at the Faculty of Economics and Tourism of the University of Rijeka in Pula, Croatia.
Dr. Currie believes in public service and applying business principles. For nine years he was elected to three terms on the city council of Winter Park. For fifteen years he and his wife, Anna, owned Perfumery on Park, a perfume boutique on Park Avenue. He also has been an examiner for the Georgia Oglethorpe Award Process, the state of Georgia’s version of the Malcolm Baldrige quality award.
To augment his global awareness and sense of adventure, Dr. Currie and his brother spent two months sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in 2000. The most rewarding part of the trip was interacting with whales off the Cape Verde islands.
